Baking sheet vs cookie sheet11/25/2023 But the uncoated pans fare better in cooking evenness and durability. “The coated pans tend to heat up and cook faster,” says Bernie Deitrick, the engineer and cooking enthusiast who conducted our tests. Aluminum is the third most abundant element in nature, which explains its affordability. It is an excellent conductor of heat, which makes it a strong contender for baking equipment. We tested two categories of pans-coated and uncoated-and came away with 10 winners (five in each category). Aluminum baking sheets are a piece of classic equipment found in several commercial and home kitchens. (Spoiler alert: There were significant differences.) We also subjected the coated pans to a durability test in which we abrade the surface with steel wool to see which pans would stand the test of time. You’ll see these results in the cleaning score in our sheet pan ratings. In our tests, we cooked a one-pan chicken dinner with potatoes, onions, and carrots, baked cookies, and baked-on canned pumpkin and cream cheese at a high temperature to see how easy it would be to remove the burned-on gunk. Most cookie sheets have a handling lip on one side, making it easy for bakers to slide their baked goods onto a cooling rack. The reason they’re considered “half”? They’re half the size of sheet pans used in commercial kitchens. The difference between a baking sheet and a cookie sheet is baking sheets/sheet pans have raised edges on all four sides and cookie sheets do not. These pans are turquoise outside and white inside, and they measure 18.3 x 12.8 inches with a 1-inch rim around the edge. Confusing, right? They typically measure about 13x18 inches, but the size can vary by an inch or so. GreenLife Ceramic Nonstick Cookie Sheet in Turquoise. The largest sheet pans that fit in most home ovens are technically called half sheet pans. (More about that below.)įirst, a note on the nomenclature. We tested both coated and uncoated sheet pans, including an unconventional cast-iron model. We bought 19 sheet pans and brought them into our labs to test for baking evenness, ease of cleaning, whether or not they warp (which can throw off whatever you’re cooking), and durability of coatings. You can use it for so much more: cookies, roasted veggies, pizza-and, yes, sheet cakes or jelly rolls. But easy-peasy one-pan meals are just one reason to own a sheet pan. Search for recipes on Cook’s Illustrated, Epicurious, or New York Times Cooking, and you’ll find scads of recipes for sheet pan dinners.

Cathode in battery11/25/2023 ![]() While the most common example is LCO, Lithium nickel oxide and Lithium manganese oxide are also well known. This is a group of compounds with two-dimensional crystal morphology. For materials to be used as LIB cathode, the Li ions must be able to diffuse freely through the crystal structure. Although LCO remains the most common cathode material, its total market share has been gradually eroded by other materials due to considerations of cost and associated safety and environmental hazards and hence, various other cathode materials have been developed. Lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) is one of the most widely material for cathodes. A balance between the capacity and cycle life of the battery will lead to more efficient batteries in the future. It is generally observed that having a cathode capable of enhancing the capacity of a battery has a detrimental effect on its cycle life. Lithium metal oxides are being used ubiquitously as the traditional cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. The cathode (or the positive terminal) remains at higher potential during discharging of the battery.Ĭathodes have always been thought of as the primary factor related to the high capacity and superior power delivery of lithium-ion batteries. On charging the battery the movement of the electrons is reversed and the cathode regains its higher potential. During discharge, the cathode undergoes reduction (or gain of electrons) and the lithium ions accumulate in the cathode.

Positive and negative space in typography11/25/2023 ![]() But that’s a mistake: in fact, users don’t need everything at once. Will you be able to concentrate on such conditions? Do you really need all those things right now? Will you be able to find what you need and how much time will it take? Well, that’s pretty the same what users feel opening the page or screen without a vital air of negative space.īoth clients and some designers may want to put as many elements and features as possible on one page or screen thinking that it will save the game and will be helpful for clients. Shelves, boxes, bags, piles of books and clothes, the desk cluttered with various things. Imagine yourself coming into a room fully packed with various staff. What is important to remember that negative space in web design doesn’t have to be only white – you may use any color, texture, even pattern or background image. The term “negative space” comes from photography: on a photo shot, they define positive space (objects attracting attention) and negative space (background). Today, used in design, this term has nothing to do with white color: it’s all about empty space rather than color. The term “white space” comes from print design since the times when pages were mostly white, so white space was everything around, between and inside the letters or symbols as well as around illustrations. Why is this phenomenon called in two different terms? It’s easy to answer if you trace the origins. What Is the Difference Between White Space and Negative Space? The negative space around the layout elements is also called macro space whereas the space between them and inside (for letters and stroke elements) is also called micro space. In UI design for websites and mobile apps, negative space is a big factor of high usability and navigability of the interface. ![]() For example, in the blog illustration below we can see how the background element (moon) plays the role of contrasting negative space making the astronaut look more vivid and dynamic. Negative space in graphic design is often seen in logos, on illustrations, posters and creative lettering where it becomes an active part of the visual presentation making key objects even more expressive. “White space is like a canvas: it’s the background that holds the elements together in a design, enabling them to stand out” – says Mads Soegaard from Interaction Design Foundation. Due to that, white space is a rightful design element that has a big impact on positive user experience. Not only does it define the limits of objects but it also creates the necessary bonds between them according to Gestalt principles and builds up effective visual performance. Negative space is a kind of breathing room for all the objects on the page or screen. It may be not only around the objects you place in the layout but also between and inside them. What Is Negative Space in Design?īasically, negative space – or white space, as it’s often called – is the area of the layout that is left empty. Today we are talking about the air in design. And only the absence of air lets us know how vital it is. Only colorlessness lets us feel the colors brighter and deeper when they appear on stage. ![]() Only empty space lets us understand what we want to fill it with. Only silence lets us know the value of the sound. We take them for granted without thinking that they are the solid foundation of the contrast. We often think that silence, emptiness, or colorlessness is bad for us.

Screen curtain for sliding glass door11/25/2023 ![]() Just something to keep in mind when you are choosing a fabric if you go the blinds route. I miss my old woven wood blinds and wish we could have them back. Water spots on the blind above the kitchen window are especially noticeable. They have ripped after a few months of having them in a couple areas and are already looking dirty in spots. Since we moved into our new home, we got fabric blinds so I could try those out and to be honest, I’m pretty disappointed. After 3 years they showed a tiny bit of dirt that needed to be cleaned but other than that they are totally maintenance free. Our dog who stared out the window for hours every single day flipped those blinds out of the way constantly. In our first home, we had woven wood blinds and I absolutely loved them. Woven blinds do not do that and they also wear wonderfully and do not show dirt like a neutral white fabric blind would. Some fabric or sheer blinds can be so delicate that they tear easily if you use them often. Because they are made from wood, they are extremely durable and do not break or rip or tear. They have a pretty texture and are available in many different colors to go with about any style. Some of my favorite blinds are woven wood blinds because of their durability and look. There are countless options to customize the blind to your home by choosing a variety of fabrics or materials, valances or no valances, etc. Sometimes this is a good option if you use the door often and want at least half of the glass covered the majority of the time, even when the door is in use.īoth of these options are traditional and work very well. This gives you a little more flexibility if you want one side of the glass closed while the other side is open. ![]() The second option for blinds are two individual blinds rather than one large blind that covers both doors. This is a very practical solution and does a great job of blocking out light on a hot summer day and providing privacy during nighttime so neighbors can’t get a full shot view into your living room. It’s mounted above the door frame so when you open the door, you must completely open the blind first. When it comes to blinds for sliding doors or patio doors, there are a few different routes you can take.įirst, is a pull down blind that extends the length of your entire door. This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. There are many beautiful and functional options for both curtains and blinds today! They are loud when they clink and clank each other while opening and closing, and don’t do anything aesthetically for the room. Luckily options these days have come a lot farther than the ugly vertical blinds you’ve likely seen years ago. Are curtains or blinds better for sliding doors? I will cover the pros and cons to each and help you decide which is the best choice for your home. So, you have a beautiful sliding glass door to your backyard, but the sun is beaming in and you need a little privacy at nighttime.

Ford explorer am fm antenna booster11/24/2023 ![]() A typical installation for these AM/FM antennas requires four things: They are made to use the same 3/8" x 24 threaded mounts that Firestik CB Antennas use. Firestik AM/FM antennas will not install in the same spot as your factory antenna. This makes them stick out a little, and makes them a little more challenging to install. The down side to all of this extra surface area is that the antenna is several times thicker than factory AM/FM antennas. In spite of the available capture area, the antennas are extremely light with the 3 foot model weighing in at 4.8 oz (135 grams) and the 4 foot version weighing in at 5.7 oz (161 grams). That represents and increase of nearly 81%. Firestik AM/FM antennas have a little over 300 inches of wire and a total surface area of about 21.3 sq. For example, a typical 30" wire straight wire antenna with a 1/8" diameter has about 11.8 sq. Firestik AM/FM antennas have a long wire wrapped around a fiberglass core that gives them much more surface area than a standard antenna. Slim whip antennas have very little surface area to capture radio signals. The problem with most factory AM/FM antennas is the very thing that makes them attractive in the first place: their slim, low-profile design. Firestik is widely known and highly regarded in the CB radio community. What makes Firestik AM/FM Antennas better?įirestik Antenna Company manufactures antennas, antenna mounts, coaxial cable, and antenna accessories right here in the United States. If you want a real performance upgrade, you should consider Firestik AM/FM antennas. You will quickly discover that aftermarket antennas that mount in the same location and have the same slim design as the factory antennas will perform about the same. If you are having problems with AM/FM reception, you may be considering replacing your factory antenna. Take note that you might need an adapter or different mount in order to upgrade your current AM/FM antenna.Īdditional Information & Recommendations: You will see AM/FM Power Antennas, AM/FM Windshield Antennas, AM/FM Roof Mount Antennas, AM/FM Mirror Mount Antennas, Freightliner Cascadia AM/FM Antennas, AM/FM Marine Antennas, and more! Does cbd increase deep sleep11/24/2023 The patient onboarding questionnaire contained in the AdvancedCare platform was a descriptive form completed individually by the patient. Self-reported diagnosed conditions on initial intake questionnaire can be seen in Table 1. Electronic databases, consisting of patient questionnaires and charts, community pharmacy patient profiles and health care professional documentation found in Kroll Pharmacy Management Software, AdvancedCare and CannScript, were all used to collect information. ![]() Pharmacists also conducted follow-up appointments with the patients to assist in medication counselling, including product selection, dosing, side effects and drug interactions. Patients were reassessed by a nurse practitioner 3 months after starting medical cannabis, once their initial medical document had expired. 20 Because of the preliminary evidence from small-scale randomized controlled trials suggesting cannabis can provide treatment benefits in sleep disorders, along with the downfalls of current pharmacologic therapy, it is reasonable to conduct a review of patients using cannabis for sleep and assess their sleep scores, along with other measures of improvement or adverse effects of cannabis use. 19īased on the available evidence, THC and THC derivatives, used either alone or in combination with CBD, have been shown to improve self-reported sleep scores. Overall, cannabis may have a short-term benefit on improving sleep time, where evidence has shown reductions in sleep onset latency. It can increase total sleep time and decrease the frequency of arousals during the night. At lower doses, CBD can have a stimulating effect however, at higher doses, it can have more of a sedating effect. 18ĬBD, the second most abundant cannabinoid found in cannabis, has been shown to have a dual effect on sleep latency. 15 - 17 At higher doses, THC-predominant cannabis has demonstrated a reduction in total rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and REM density. 13 THC acts on the CB1 receptors in the central nervous system and can yield a biphasic effect on sleep 14 such that THC, at lower doses, can reduce sleep onset latency and has been associated with greater ease of falling asleep, increased slow-wave sleep and increased total sleep time. 12 Cannabis, specifically with strains containing higher levels of THC, is known to have a dose-dependent effect on sleep. The cannabis flower contains more than 120 different phytocannabinoids, with delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) being the most studied cannabinoids of interest. Many patients who seek medical cannabis for sleep and related disorders have often tried many of these medications and have experienced undesirable side effects. ![]() 12 However, many of these medications have unwanted adverse effects, including dizziness, cognitive impairment, daytime sedation, weight gain, metabolic syndromes and the potential for addiction and dependency. Other medications are used off-label for sleep, including antidepressants (e.g., trazodone, mirtazapine) and second-generation antipsychotics (e.g., quetiapine). 11 Currently, the available pharmacologic treatments for insomnia and sleep disorders include H1-antagonists, benzodiazepines and hypnotics (e.g., zopiclone, zolpidem, etc.). Patients often report using medical or recreational cannabis to treat multiple symptoms 10 patients may be using cannabis for a primary sleep disorder (e.g., insomnia) or secondary to another medical condition or psychiatric condition (e.g., depression, anxiety, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, etc.). Cannabinoids are gaining acceptance for use as medicines in the treatment of insomnia. ![]() 6 - 9 Despite advances in pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy, insomnia and sleep disorders remain a significant burden to society. Sleep is essential for health and involves factors such as quality and duration, 4 and recent research has shown that later sleep timing and greater variability in sleep are associated with adverse health outcomes such as increased risk of depression 5 and cardiovascular diseases. 2 Indeed, sleep disorders are one of the most common reasons individuals report using cannabis for medicinal purposes, alongside chronic pain and mental health–related disorders. pointing out that while there are data to show a positive effect of cannabis on outcomes in patients living with insomnia, it is still low quality because of small sample sizes and short treatment periods. 1 Data on the potential impact of cannabis to treat insomnia remains equivocal, however, with a recent meta-analysis by Bhagavan et al. Cannabis has been used in Canada for medical purposes since being sanctioned by Health Canada in 2001 under the Medical Access Regulation Act.
